FPDS Apps and Resources
FPDS Apps and Resources is the public hub for the teaching tools built and curated by Faculty Professional Development Services at Hillsborough College. One page gathers them under three headings, AI, teaching and accessibility, so that an instructor can find the office's own apps and courses alongside the guides and assistants it recommends.
What you can do with it
The AI section points to the AI-Era Assignment Design Coach, a Gemini Gem that walks instructors through redesigning assignments in an AI-capable world; the same coach is also available as a Playlab project, and a non-AI Academic Integrity worksheet covers the task with fewer features. The section also lists a self-paced tour of AI tools and teaching tasks, the AI in Education Knowledge Base, and a second Gemini Gem for designing online modules. The accessibility section collects a Canvas checklist that begins with what you are working with and ends with a human check, a guide to Universal Design for Learning published under a non-commercial Creative Commons license, and another Gemini Gem that writes alt text for images. The teaching section collects two Canvas courses the office maintains, a starter kit to copy into your own course and a course of evidence-based teaching strategies with adaptable Canvas items, plus an online teaching checklist held in a document. Each entry is a working page rather than an announcement, and the sections link onward to material the office does not host.
Who it is for
The site serves Educational Development staff and instructors at Hillsborough College. It is also useful to instructors elsewhere as a worked example of a small faculty-development site, since it is a set of static pages that can be copied rather than rebuilt.
Notes and caveats
Reading the site needs no account, and the Canvas courses and the checklist document it links to are public too. The Gemini Gems and the NotebookLM notebook are Google services, and those do need one. The repository is MIT-licensed as software, while the external guides it links to carry their own licenses. The office maintains the pages without a publication schedule, so they change without notice.
